Dear Mother: Rave Reviews by Ramon Tikarum & Tracey West
This powerful little one act play regularly evokes tears and a burst of raw emotion from people watching it; now I’m finding out that it has a similar effect on the readers too.
As the time draws nearer to it being published as a performance script with Magic Oxygen Publishing, the excitement is building as we busy ourselves collecting written reviews for the back page.
It is with great pride and much thanks to Ramon Tikaram for his review of Dear Mother.
‘Mark James’ Great War vignettes, succeed in creating a small window in time, through which we witness the poignant story of a single life and its place in modern history; a keeper for the First World War library.’
Author and broadcaster Tracey West also comments, ‘Dear Mother is an incredibly poignant short play from the talented pen of Mark James. Its timely arrival on the bookshelf will make it an ideal performance piece for schools, marking the 100 year anniversary of the start of the Great War. Mark skilfully employs the simple medium of letters to convey his account of life on the front line through innocent eyes. I have no doubt the live performances will invite the audience to experience what happens in between Mark’s well crafted lines, allowing them to appreciate it on an empathetic and human level as they ponder the horror of being parted from their loved ones in a time of war.’
Dear Mother will be released at the end of March and can be bought directly from Magic Oxygen, or ordered from your local independent or High Street book shops and via online vendors such as Amazon.
